5 of 5 The state of US rock in 1981. March 7, 2012
Reviewer: Terje Hovde Forsberg from Oslo, Oslo Norway
In 1981 i had a hard time finding heavy rock from the states with balls, i tought everything where FM rock like Journey, foreigner, Kiss etc.  So everything i bought where british, mostly NWOBHM.
Then i heard a track from Y&T's earthshaker which blew me away.  Next day i had the album in my hands and at the back of the album cover there where this picture where one of the guys had the most awful shirt on (most of you know what i mean) and tought is this the group i heard last night:-)

For me Y&T held the flag for hard rock with balls stateside in 81 and 82.

So do not hesitate buying earthshaker and crank the volume to the max.

During the mid 80's this was my #1 lp! The song I believe in you still makes my hair, what's left of it, stand up..

5 of 5 Truly Earthshaking April 11, 2008
Reviewer: J Chris Lindsay from Los Osos, CA United States
I am so glad these albums have been re-issued! Sadly, my vinyl collection gets no playtime so to have a complete cd of this one of a kind classic is beyond words!  Y&T made the 80's a rockin' good time and I have missed this album's fire and fun more than I thought possible!  I saw Dave with his new band at the Mid-State Fairgrounds a few years ago and he's still melting our faces with that shredding guitar!!!  Come on back to the Central Coast Dave!!

Although EARTHSHAKER was preceded by two albums under the group's enlongated moniker, Yesterday & Today, many feel this is where it all began.  EARTHSHAKER rattled the rock world and won the hearts of countless followers, and is still widely considered a benchmark in the hard rock/metal community.

While albums since perfected in sonic or compositional ways, no other Y & T album captures the raw kinetic energy, the lust for life, or the essence of youth better than this one.  Songs like "Knock You Out", and the opener of ages, "Hungry For Rock" come out with all fists pumping.  Many from this 1981 classic have become setlist mainstays like the sultry "Dirty Girl" and the climactic crescendo of "Rescue Me".  And no one could forget the forerunner of metal balladry, "I Believe In You", in what many fans come to associate as Dave Meniketti's signature guitar work.  Phil Kennemore lends his vocals on the raucous "Squeeze" and "Hurricane" blows in at 155 mph leaving many a faces melted.
